Fishing

Keen fishermen flock to the Proserpine River, particularly in the warmer months when the Barramundi are around.
October is a great time for Barra fishing.
The weather is warmer and for the fishermen it is their last chance to catch a fish before the Barra season closes at the end of October.

It’s not just the Barra that the fishermen chase.
King and Blue Salmon, whiting, grunter, flathead, and bream are caught in abundance.
Fish frames are brought to the kiosk for freezing and are given away as crab pot bait, so pack the crab pots.

Prawns can often be caught straight off the beach.

The Proserpine River is accessible by a boat ramp located 5kms from Conway Beach Tourist Park.

The fish cleaning area combines an area where you can clean your fish and also cook your crabs in a large pot provided. Cars and boats can also be washed in that area.
