CYCLONE
ULUI - 21st March 2010
|
"Cyclone Ului had us bunkered down in our beautiful
ladies toilet block, mattresses in the showers for some
comfort"
"Trees fell around our cabins. Our main concern for
a while will be power. We hope the generator copes. It
could be quite a few days before power is restored.
But
the cleanup has begun and it will be business as usual
in time for Easter". |

Conway
Beach is a small community located a short 25 minute drive
from Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays, at the mouth of the
Proserpine River, an area renowned for great fishing and crabbing.
The park
is set on 7 tropical acres and has undergone some major improvements
in recent years. Current owners, George and Debbie with their
daughter Tiani moved to the Whitundays in 2005 after selling
their park at Flying Fish Point, Innisfail. They set about
to create something special for their guests in the peaceful
surroundings.
The
park was established some 30 years ago for the fishermen.
While the park still attracts the fishermen, they now often
bring their families. Dad would not be game to go without
the kids now that there are so many facilities and activities to keep them busy too. The nomads flock in winter (bookings
are recommended) to enjoy the mild winter weather, a spot of
fishing and some fun activities on offer.
The
park has great accommodation and a friendly atmosphere, and
owners George and Debbie enjoy the opportunity to meet new
people and catch up with old mates.
Conway
Beach Tourist Park offers the best of both worlds – a
peaceful stay
in a quiet, friendly park
with great
facilities,
yet still so close to all that Airlie
Beach has to offer.
